10 miles in the cold, inversion, and running with a head cold. May not have been the smartest thing I've ever done. . . I've been battling this stupid cold all week. Instead of getting better, it seems to be getting worse. And, I NEVER get sick!! What's up? So, I took an extra day off this week and vowed to complete my 10 miles on Saturday. Friday night we heard about the lovely inversion over the valley. I crossed my fingers and hoped for the best. In the morning, I walked out the door and saw patches of blue sky. Did I get lucky and the semi-rain storm clear up the nasty air? By the time I was halfway finished, I realized it was just wishful thinking. So, I got to breathe all that crap in and let it join the rest of the gunk already in my head. (I felt better seeing I wasn't the only crazy/stupid one running in it, though ;)) Needless to say, it was not a great run. I averaged 9:30 min/miles, so it was quite slow. There were a few icy patches I had to be careful about, too, but for the most part, the roads were okay. Hope this cold clears up so I can get back to my normal routine. |
